As parents we all have our own style/opinion on how we patent our children. I would like to talk about kids & chores.
A family member (no name) comes to stay on the school holidays, to help with the girls while I work, and I'm very grateful to have the help. But I do contest to being told about what my kids should be doing around my house at there age, 9 and 12!
My children are not silly by any means, when my dad was sick in hospital 2 years ago my Miss 12 at that time was Miss 10, made all the lunches for school, as I left for the hospital before they were even awake (don't worry they were supervised). They make toast, sandwiches, clean, vacuum and more.
I believe the kids should be kids and play and use their imagination for as long as they can, before they enter this big wide would of being a responsible adult. I bet as an adult if you could be a kid for just one day again, you would go to that happy childhood place again and feel free from everyday pressure of adulthood.
I don't walk around with blinkers on, but my girls need to be kids and at the end of the day they see what I do and when the time is right I know they will be OK!
My saying to my girls is "be a kid, your a long time an adult".
